Bookkeeping Questions, Answered Straight

The questions business owners ask us most — about cost, cleanup, job costing, and how working with Kingdom Ledger actually works. Answered plainly, the way we keep books.

Cost & Getting Started

Every contractor runs differently, so Kingdom Ledger quotes each business personally — your fee is based on your scope: how many bank and card accounts you have, how many transactions you run each month, and whether payroll or job costing is involved. You approve your exact quote before any work starts, and there are no surprises after that.

It starts with a free consultation call. We look at the current state of your books, talk through what you need, and give you a personal quote. If you approve it, we set up or connect your QuickBooks Online, link your bank and credit card accounts securely, and your monthly bookkeeping begins.

Very little. Your bank and credit card accounts stay connected to QuickBooks Online, you upload receipts and invoices digitally as they come in, and you answer the occasional question about an unusual transaction. We handle the categorizing, reconciling, and reporting behind the scenes.

What Bookkeeping Covers

Every month we categorize every transaction, reconcile your bank and credit card accounts to the penny, keep your books current, and prepare your financial reports — profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow — delivered by the 15th. For contractors, we also track costs job by job so you can see profit per project.

Most small businesses need both, for different jobs. A bookkeeper keeps your books accurate every month; a CPA files your taxes and gives tax strategy. Clean monthly books make your CPA faster and cheaper at tax time — Kingdom Ledger keeps your books tax-ready all year and prepares the reports and documentation your CPA needs.

Kingdom Ledger does bookkeeping, not tax filing — we are not a CPA firm. What we do is keep your books clean and tax-ready all year and work with your CPA or tax preparer at filing time, so nothing has to be reconstructed in March.

Yes. Our 1099 service collects W-9s, tracks what you paid each subcontractor, and prepares and files 1099-NEC forms by the January deadline, so staying compliant is one less thing on your plate at year-end.

Contractors & Job Profit

Job costing means tracking every dollar a job spends — labor, materials, subcontractors, rentals — against that specific job instead of lumping everything into one monthly pile. Done right, it shows you the actual profit on each project, not just whether the business made money overall.

With job-cost reporting. Kingdom Ledger matches each job's revenue against its labor, materials, and subcontractor costs and reports the margin per job, so you can see which projects make money, which ones bleed, and price the next bid with real numbers.

Yes — cleanup and catch-up work is one of our specialties. After a quick review of your books, your cleanup is quoted personally for your exact situation, and you approve the full scope before we start. We reconcile every account, fix miscategorized transactions, and hand you clean, tax-ready books — then keep them current month to month.

Cleanup is quoted personally after a free review, because the work depends on how many months you are behind and how much needs correcting. You see the full scope and your exact price before any work starts — approval first, always.
